Celebrating Dog Dads: The Treat Dispensers, Ball Throwers, and Adventure Guides
Father's Day is here, and while we often think about dads in terms of families, barbecues, and backyard projects, we think it's only fair to recognize another important group:
Dog Dads.
You know who we're talking about.
The Official Ball Throwers.
The Chief Treat Dispensers.
The Early Morning Walk Managers.
The Backyard Patrol Supervisors.
The "We're Not Getting Another Dog" Guys Who Somehow End Up Sleeping With Two Dogs in Their Bed.
Dog dads have a special relationship with their pups. They may pretend they're not spoiling them, but somehow the dog always ends up with the bigger half of the couch, the extra treat, or one more game of fetch before bedtime.
And dogs notice.
They know who sneaks them bites of hamburger during summer cookouts.
They know who takes them on hikes when everyone else wants to sleep in.
They know who gets up early on weekends because somebody needs a walk.
Most importantly, they know who their person is.
At Bend Barks & Rec, we meet a lot of incredible dog dads. We hear stories about weekend adventures, river days, mountain hikes, camping trips, and the everyday routines that build strong relationships between dogs and their people.
The truth is, dogs don't care about expensive gifts.
They care about time.
They care about routine.
They care about shared adventures.
And if we're being honest, most dads feel exactly the same way.
This Father's Day, take an extra walk. Throw the ball a few more times. Share a little extra time together.
And if you're looking for a Father's Day gift that's a little different, consider giving your favorite dog dad something every dog loves: a great run.
Because a tired dog is a happy dog.
And a happy dog makes every family gathering, camping trip, backyard barbecue, and summer adventure just a little bit better.
To all the dog dads out there: thank you for the walks, the treats, the belly rubs, and the endless games of fetch.
Happy Father's Day from all of us at Bend Barks & Rec.
Until next week,
